Senate Resolution No. 2162

        COMMENDING  Lauren  Ford  upon the occasion of her
        designation for special recognition by  In  Our  Own
        Voices, Inc. on July 21, 2019
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  recognizes the profound impact of
those exemplary individuals within the  great  State  of  New  York  who
proactively  work  for  the enfranchisement of minority communities, and
the importance of such work for the benefit  of  all  citizens  of  this
State, and indeed, all citizens of the Nation; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commend  Lauren  Ford  upon  the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by In Our Own Voices, Inc., to be celebrated at its Jazz  in
July  Event commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising
on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady,  New
York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  Our Own Voices is an autonomous organization dedicated
to  addressing  the  many  needs  and  ensuring  the  physical,  mental,
spiritual,  political, cultural, and economic survival and growth of the
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual  and  Transgender  People  of  Color  (LGBT  POC)
community in the Capital Region of Upstate New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  Our  Own Voices is proudly recognizing Lauren Ford for
her tireless efforts  in  creating  positive  change  in  Lesbian,  Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender People of Color communities; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Lauren  Ford  is  a  Licensed Master Social Worker and the
Training Manager for Northern Rivers Family of Services in  Albany,  New
York,   where   she  coordinates,  designs,  and  delivers  professional
development and continuing education curriculum for nonprofits, schools,
healthcare organizations, and government agencies; and
 
  WHEREAS, Lauren Ford also serves on  the  Executive  Board  for  the
Capital  District  Chapter  of the New Leaders Council, and has actively
supported the LGBTQ community by focusing on  reducing  disparities  and
building  power  for youth, people of color, and low-income individuals;
and
 
  WHEREAS, This remarkable woman is truly dedicated to  integrating  a
trauma-informed, intersectional, and equity-focused lens into all of her
professional, volunteer, and community work; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Our society is greatly benefited by the purposeful efforts
of individuals who unite for the cause of improving the quality of  life
for others, and who proactively work toward the goal of dignity for all;
now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Lauren Ford upon the occasion of  her  designation  for  special
recognition  by  In  Our  Own  Voices,  Inc. on July 21, 2019; and be it
further
 
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lauren Ford.
