COMMEMORATING the Centennial Anniversary of the
Lake Avenue Elementary School building in Saratoga
Springs, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose
purpose and endeavor have been dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in
the education of the youth of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Lake Avenue Elementary School
building located at 126 Lake Avenue in Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, To celebrate their many years of academic excellence, the
school will hold a Centennial Celebration for both current Lake Avenue
students, families and alumni on Saturday, May 4, 2024; and
WHEREAS, The Lake Avenue Elementary School building was built in
1923, and has remained an educational institution for a century; over
its distinguished ten decade history, the building has served as a high
school, a junior high school and, in 1972, it became what it is today,
Lake Avenue Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, multiple generations of families have
come to the Lake Avenue school building to embark on their educational
journeys; and
WHEREAS, Set in the heart of Saratoga Springs, the school known
today as Lake Avenue Elementary has inspired generations of memories and
has been an incubator for success; and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the
educators, staff, students and families of this renowned school building
may look back with pride upon its humble beginnings, find just
satisfaction in its purposeful growth and hold true of purpose in its
commitment to serving the educational needs of the citizens of Saratoga
County and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Centennial Anniversary of the Lake Avenue Elementary
School building in Saratoga Springs, noting the propriety of its goals,
the constancy of its commitment, and the significance of its
accomplishments in preparing the youth of today and leaders of tomorrow;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lake Avenue Elementary School Principal Elizabeth
Carroll, Saratoga Springs City School District Superintendent Michael
Patton, and School Board Members.
