HONORING Justice Gilbert T. Rogers Jr. upon the
occasion of his retirement after 53 years of
distinguished service to Vienna of Oneida County,
New York on December 31, 2023
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge outstanding individuals within our midst who
have made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Justice
Gilbert T. Rogers Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement after 53 years
of distinguished service to Vienna of Oneida County, New York on Sunday,
December 31, 2023; and
WHEREAS, The longest-standing town justice in Oneida County, Justice
Gilbert T. Rogers Jr. was a 1962 graduate of Rome Free Academy in Rome,
New York; prior to his judgeship, he worked for the former Niagara
Mohawk, now known as National Grid; and
WHEREAS, To begin his illustrious career of over five decades in the
court system, Justice Gilbert T. Rogers Jr. was 27 years old when he
first became a town justice; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his Nation, Justice Gilbert T. Rogers Jr.
served active duty with the United States Army from 1962 to 1965; he
also served his community, as an honorary member of the Town of Vienna
Fire Department for almost 50 years; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated individuals who have shown a long and sustained commitment to
excellence certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Justice Gilbert T. Rogers Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement,
and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Justice Gilbert T. Rogers Jr.
