MOURNING the death of Keith A. Granger,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow that this Legislative Body,
representing the people of the State of New York, is moved this day to
pay tribute to an eminent man of indomitable faith and dedication whose
public service and countless accomplishments will forever stand as a
paradigm and inspiration for others; and
WHEREAS, Keith A. Granger of Castile, New York, died on Sunday,
January 5, 2020, at the age of 62; and
WHEREAS, Born September 7, 1957, in Warsaw, New York, Keith A.
Granger was the son of the late Lyman, Sr. and Bertha Beardsley Granger;
and
WHEREAS, Keith A. Granger worked for the New York State Department
of Corrections for 25 years, retiring as a Sergeant in 2013; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Keith A. Granger was a member of the Pike Fire Department and
past member of the Pike Rescue Squad; at the time of his death, he was
faithfully serving as Supervisor for the Town of Castile and as a member
of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he was a member of the Triluminar Lodge No.
543 Free & Accepted Masons in Pike, where he was a past Master; he also
served as a past District Staff Officer; and
WHEREAS, Keith A. Granger was the former Mayor of both the Village
of Castile and the Village of Pike, as well as a past member of the
Letchworth Central School Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, A devoted member of the Castile United Church of Christ and
the Castile Community Club, Keith A. Granger was a former assistant
swim/dive coach and former assistant soccer coach at Letchworth Central
School; he also spent many years as a high school baseball umpire; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his sister, Cynthia Quackenbush, Keith A.
Granger is survived by his wife of 41 years, Annette Pirdy Granger, whom
he married on June 10, 1978; his two daughters, Nichole Granger and
Angela (Rob) Griswold; three grandchildren, Breanna Griswold, Aiden
Salzler and Sadie Griswold; two brothers, John (Pearl) Granger and
Lyman, Jr. (Pam) Granger; his mother-in-law, Carol Pirdy; and
brother-in-law, Guy (Val) Pirdy; as well as several nieces and nephews;
and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Keith A. Granger leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Keith A. Granger, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Keith A. Granger.
