CONGRATULATING Alan Walts upon the occasion of his
retirement after more than 40 years of distinguished
service to the field of broadcasting
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, that the quality
and character of life in this great Empire State is indelibly enriched
by the faithful and untiring efforts of those individuals who have
helped shape the history of broadcasting; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Alan Walts upon the occasion of his retirement after more
than 40 years of distinguished service to the field of broadcasting; and
WHEREAS, Alan Walts began his illustrious broadcasting career in
Watertown, New York, covering and informing residents of the important
news stories in the City and beyond; he went on to work in Florida,
before returning to the North Country where he spent the final 10 years
of his career as the host of Watertown's Morning News on 790 WTNY radio;
and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Alan Walts tirelessly volunteered his time and energies to
countless community organizations, including the Salvation Army, selling
newspapers for the Watertown Daily Times during its Annual Old News Boys
Days event; and
WHEREAS, In a career which traversed 44 years, Alan Walts has truly
made a significant impact on the people of his community and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by his many fans and
his colleagues, Alan Walts will be remembered for his honesty,
integrity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of
human problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Alan Walts over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication
to others; and
WHEREAS, Alan Walts has, throughout his career and purposeful life,
served his community with integrity and devotion, continuously striving
to meet the needs of his listeners through entertainment and
enlightenment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Alan Walts upon the occasion of his retirement after more
than 40 years of distinguished service to the field of broadcasting, and
to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alan Walts.
