Senate Resolution No. 2704
 
BY: Senator THOMAS
 
        HONORING  Juan  Arango  upon  the  occasion of his
        designation as recipient of the Leaders of  Tomorrow
        Award by the United States Air Force
 
  WHEREAS,  It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to  honor  the  achievements  of  its
young   citizens   and   leaders   of   tomorrow,  whose  character  and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this  great
State and Nation; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Juan Arango upon the occasion of his designation  as  recipient  of  the
Leaders  of  Tomorrow  Award  by  the  United States Air Force which was
celebrated at the 26th Annual Hispanic Games from January 3-4, 2020,  at
The Armory in Washington Heights, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Juan  Arango is truly deserving of this prestigious award;
academically and athletically, he has distinguished himself as  a  young
man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards
of   excellence   and   achievement,   purposefulness   of   life,   and
responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
 
  WHEREAS, A student at Massapequa High School, Juan Arango  has  been
running  track  since  eighth grade; today, he primarily participates in
mid-distance races such as the 300-meter, 400-meter and 4x4 relay; and
 
  WHEREAS, Throughout his stellar track career, Juan Arango has broken
several school records, some of which date back 50 years;  in  addition,
he has been named an All-County Athlete three times, and was selected to
an All-Long Island and two All-Conference teams; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  addition  to  his  athletic  prowess, Juan Arango is a
natural born leader; in his role as Captain of the track  team,  he  not
only  inspires  his  fellow  athletes,  but  also  leads  them in warmup
exercise and teaches them proper stretching techniques; and
 
  WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates,  Juan  Arango
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Juan  Arango  may  stand  with  pride in his achievements,
experiencing  the  satisfaction  of  his  labors  and  the  joy  of  his
accomplishments,  eager  to  face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and
 
  WHEREAS, Juan Arango represents the potential inherent in  our  most
precious  resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements  and  the  promise  of  his
future; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Juan Arango upon the occasion of his designation as  recipient  of
 
the  Leaders  of  Tomorrow  Award by the United States Air Force, and to
wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Juan Arango.
