Senate Resolution No. 2732

        PAYING  tribute to the life and valiant service of
        Security Guard and  former  Buffalo  Police  Officer
        Aaron Salter Jr. who died in the line of duty on May
        14, 2022
 
  WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through  their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable  positive
impact  on  the  lives  of  its residents; Aaron Salter Jr. was one such
individual; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is with profound  sadness  and  deep  regret  that  this
Legislative  Body  records the passing of Aaron Salter Jr., who made the
ultimate sacrifice on Saturday, May 14, 2022, while faithfully executing
his responsibilities, serving with dedication, loyalty  and  compassion;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Aaron Salter Jr. laid down his life in a final act of valor
to  protect  shoppers  at  Tops Friendly Markets in Buffalo, New York, a
heroic  act  which  saved  lives  and  slowed  the  assault  that  would
eventually cost him his life, along with nine others; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  resident of Lockport, New York, Aaron Salter Jr. served
his beloved community as a member of the Buffalo Police  Department  for
three decades, retiring in 2018 at the esteemed rank of Lieutenant; and
 
  WHEREAS, With a love for cars, Aaron Salter Jr.'s latest passion was
building environmentally sustainable vehicles; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Throughout his life, Aaron Salter Jr. touched many through
his kindness and commitment to service, and, as we recall  the  loss  of
this  great  man,  we  memorialize  his remarkable life and the enormous
impact he had on everyone with whom he came in contact; and
 
  WHEREAS, While he was passionate about many things,  above  all  his
greatest passion was being a father to his three children; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Aaron  Salter  Jr.'s infinite selflessness and benevolence
will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight
and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and  hope  to
the countless lives he touched; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Aaron Salter Jr. leaves behind  a  legacy  which  will  long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will
be  deeply  missed  and  truly  merits  the  grateful  tribute  of  this
Legislative Body; now, therefore be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
pay  tribute to the life and valiant service of Aaron Salter Jr., and to
express its deepest condolences to his family; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Aaron Salter Jr.
