Senate Resolution No. 2875

        HONORING  New  Hartford  Police  Chief  Michael S.
        Inserra upon the occasion of  his  retirement  after
        nearly  40  years  of  distinguished  service to the
        field of law enforcement
 
  WHEREAS, Law enforcement officers from the State  of  New  York  put
their  lives  on  the  line  day in and day out for the citizens of this
great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize  and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service,  demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their  communities  and  this  great
Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Within  every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment  and  dedication,
deserve  the  respect  and  admiration  of  their  community  for  their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others;  Chief  Michael
S. Inserra is one such individual; and
 
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor New Hartford
Police  Chief  Michael  S.  Inserra  upon the occasion of his retirement
after nearly 40 years of distinguished  service  to  the  field  of  law
enforcement; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Born,  raised  and  educated  in  New  Hartford, New York,
Michael S.  Inserra graduated with a bachelor's degree in public justice
from Oswego State University in 1982; and
 
  WHEREAS, Upon the completion of  his  studies,  Michael  S.  Inserra
began his illustrious career in law enforcement with the recently formed
Whitestown  Police Department before transferring to the Kirkland Police
Department in 1984; and
 
  WHEREAS, In 1988, Michael S. Inserra made a lateral transfer to  the
New  Hartford  Police  Department  where  he  rose  up  the  ranks  from
patrolman, to sergeant, and finally  to  chief  in  June  of  2010,  the
esteemed position from which he will officially retire on June 30, 2022;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  For  34  years,  Michael  S.  Inserra  rendered  faithful,
conscientious  and  valuable  service  to  the   New   Hartford   Police
Department,   earning  the  admiration,  esteem  and  affection  of  his
colleagues; and
 
  WHEREAS, Chief Michael S. Inserra, with  his  proficient  leadership
and  love  for  the Town of New Hartford, truly epitomized the roll of a
community police  officer;  he  tirelessly  and  selflessly  served  the
residents  of  his  beloved  community  with  compassion, integrity, and
fairness, attributes which will forever serve  as  an  example  for  his
fellow officers; and
 
  WHEREAS,  With  him  throughout  have  been  his  wife  of 36 years,
Christine, and their two sons, all of whom feel privileged to be a  part
of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  great  State  of  New York is fortunate to have brave
public servants like Chief Michael S. Inserra who risk  their  lives  in
the  line  of duty each day to protect the residents of our communities;
no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who are willing  to  put
service over self; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly  devote  their  lives  to  the
preservation  of  order  and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  New Hartford Police Chief Michael S. Inserra upon the occasion of
his retirement, and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be
it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Chief Michael S. Inserra.
