Assembly Resolution No. 931

        MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
        October  8, 2020, as Children's Environmental Health
        Day in the State of New York
 
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to increase public
awareness of, and appreciation for, the natural resources of this  great
Empire  State,  as  well  as  recognize  the  role  all citizens have in
protecting the environment and the quality of life within New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim  Thursday,  October  8,
2020,  as  Children's Environmental Health Day in the State of New York;
and
 
  WHEREAS, The aim of Children's Environmental Health (CEH) Day is  to
raise  awareness  about the importance of clean air and water, safe food
and consumer products, and healthy environments to children's health and
development; and
 
  WHEREAS, CEH Day was created by the Children's Environmental  Health
Network and was celebrated for the first time on October 13, 2016; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Observed on the second Thursday in October, CEH Day serves
as a means to celebrate progress of the children's environmental  health
movement and create a strong network of child health advocates; and
 
  WHEREAS,  CEH  Day encourages individuals and organizations to raise
awareness and understanding of children's environmental  health  issues,
seek   improved  protections  for  children,  and  to  perform  acts  of
sustainability or environmental health wellness; and
 
  WHEREAS, This vital observance is a  national  effort  supported  by
individuals,   non-profit   organizations,   and   government  agencies;
together, we can safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of our  most
precious resource, our youth; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It is imperative that there be greater public awareness of
this serious issue, and more must be done to increase  activity  at  the
local,  state and national levels to promote a healthier environment for
our children; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
memorialize  Governor  Andrew  M.  Cuomo to proclaim October 8, 2020, as
Children's Environmental Health Day in the State of New York; and be  it
further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the  State  of
New York.
