MOURNING the death of Eastchester Town Councilman
Glenn Daniel Bellitto, renowned public servant,
loving family man, and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to mourn publicly
the death of certain prominent individuals whose valued contributions to
their community and their profession served to enhance the quality of
life in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Daniel Bellitto of Bronxville, New York, died on
Thursday, April 2, 2020, at the age of 62; and
WHEREAS, Born on February 6, 1958, in Yonkers, New York, Glenn
Daniel Bellitto and his wife moved to Bronxville the day after they
married in 1990, remaining residents of this city for three decades; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Daniel Bellitto attended Archbishop Stepinac High
School in White Plains, New York, where he was editor-in-chief of the
iconic 1976 Bicentennial yearbook and a National Merit Scholar; and
WHEREAS, With an interest in politics which ignited at just 10 years
old, Glenn Daniel Bellitto and his father regularly debated current
events around the dinner table; as a child he also enjoyed public
service and organized Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraisers; and
WHEREAS, By 12 years old, Glenn Daniel Bellitto could be found
distributing election leaflets, and at 18, this impressive young man was
elected Vice President of the Westchester County Young Republicans Club;
in his 20s, he became a District Leader and President of the 11th Ward
Club; he went on to run for United States Congress as the candidate for
New York's 16th District; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to his community, Glenn Daniel Bellitto was
actively involved with the local senior citizens, as well as with the
interests of condo and co-op residents; he was also a founder of the
Bronxville Green Committee; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he was a member of the Eastchester Italian
American Citizen's Club, Tuckahoe-Eastchester Lions Club, Knights of
Columbus, Order of the Sons of Italy, and the Eastchester Irish American
Social Club; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his election as Eastchester Town Councilman in
2011, Glenn Daniel Bellitto served as Deputy Mayor of Bronxville and as
a Bronxville Trustee; with a deep admiration and appreciation for the
police force, he also served as liaison to the Bronxville Police
Department; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Daniel Bellitto distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; his commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his son, Gage; and father, Salvatore, Glenn
Daniel Bellitto is survived by his wife, Kyle; one daughter, Dale; his
mother, Dolores; one brother, Douglas; one sister, Robin (Bill); and
three nephews, Kevin, Ryan and Matthew; as well as many cousins and
aunts; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Glenn Daniel Bellitto leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Eastchester Town Councilman Glenn Daniel Bellitto,
renowned public servant, loving family man, and devoted member of his
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Glenn Daniel Bellitto.
