Assembly Resolution No. 65

        CONGRATULATING  Max  Haynia  upon  the occasion of
        capturing the  2022  NYSPHSAA  Boys  Class  B  Cross
        Country Championship
 
  WHEREAS,  Individual  and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this  Legislative  Body  commends  rare  athletic
achievements  and  pays  special  recognition  to  those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both  the  moral  and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Max
Haynia upon the occasion of capturing the 2022  NYSPHSAA  Boys  Class  B
Cross   Country   Championship   on  Saturday,  November  12,  2022,  at
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School in Verona, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Max  Haynia  of  Westhampton  Beach  High  School  won  the
5-kilometer  race  with  an  outstanding time of 16 minutes, 9.7 seconds
beating the second-place finisher by 20.1 seconds; and
 
  WHEREAS, In addition to this monumental victory, Max Haynia won  the
New  York  race in 15 minutes, 58 seconds at the Nike Cross Regionals on
Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Bowdoin Park in  Wappingers  Falls,  New
York,
 
  WHEREAS,  After  graduating  in  June  of  2023, Max Haynia plans on
attending West Point where he will continue to run for  the  Army  Black
Knights; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Proudly  donning  the  school's colors of green, gray, and
white his family, friends,  and  the  community  at  large  loyally  and
enthusiastically supported Max Haynia throughout his journey as he ended
his season with an impressive overall record; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Sports  competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Max Haynia has clearly made  a  contribution  to
the  spirit  of  excellence  which  is  a  tradition of his school; now,
therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
congratulate Max Haynia upon the occasion of capturing the 2022 NYSPHSAA
Boys Class B Cross Country Championship; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted Max Haynia.
