Assembly Resolution No. 264

        CELEBRATING the life and accomplishments of Dennis
        Stanley  Hill,  dairy  farmer  and  maple  producer,
        distinguished citizen  and  devoted  member  of  his
        community
 
  WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body  records  the  passing  of  Dennis S. Hill, an extraordinary man of
indomitable faith and dedication whose purposeful life will  long  serve
as a standard to which others might aspire; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  dairy  farmer  for over 40 years and maple producer for
over 50 years, Dennis S. Hill of Harpersfield, New York, died on Monday,
April 19, 2021, at the age of 80; and
 
  WHEREAS, Dennis S. Hill was born on November 27, 1940, to Betty  and
Sheldon  Hill;  after graduating from South Kortright Central School, he
attended the State University of New York at Delhi; and
 
  WHEREAS, In the summer of 1958, Dennis S.  Hill  went  to  work  for
Gaylord  Shaver  on  the  Shaver  Farm;  in  1961, he married the former
Barbara Morse, and together, they raised two sons; in 1984,  the  couple
purchased the farm and renamed it Shaver-Hill Farm; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  March of 2004, Dennis S. Hill sold the dairy business,
and transitioned into a full-time maple syrup  operation  with  his  two
sons,  Dwayne  and  David;  later,  they  picked  up  a  maple equipment
dealership through the  Leader  Evaporator  Company,  with  whom  Dennis
served on its Board of Directors; and
 
  WHEREAS,  An  active and vital part of his community, Dennis S. Hill
was a member of the Town of Harpersfield Historical Society  and  served
on  the  town's  Board for over 18 years; devoted to the environment and
his profession, he was involved with the Fish and  Wildlife  Board,  the
Watershed  Agricultural  Council  Board,  New York Farm Bureau, New York
State Maple  Producers  Association,  Delaware  County  Soil  and  Water
Conservation  District, New York State Soil and Water Conservations, and
the Colonel Harper Grange, Pomona Grange, New  York  State  Grange,  and
National Grange; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Dennis S. Hill
is survived by his two sons, Dwayne (Marylee) and David (Gloria);  three
grandchildren,  Deidra,  Damian  and  Ariel  (Nick);  his  companion and
friend, Dottie Collins Accurso; three  sisters,  Sharon  Weigel,  Shelia
(Victor)  Haslam and Diana (Harold) German; two brothers, Ronnie (Wendy)
and Dean; several nieces and nephews; and  his  "Fresh  Air  son,"  Paul
(Tina) Murphy; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Through  his  diligence and expertise in dairy farming and
maple production, Dennis S. Hill truly brought pride and recognition  to
himself  and  his  family,  his local community, and to our great Empire
State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a  sense  of
compassion, Dennis S. Hill leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the  passage  of  time  and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dennis S. Hill,  dairy  farmer
and  maple  producer,  distinguished  citizen  and devoted member of his
community; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Dennis S. Hill.
