Assembly Resolution No. 295

        COMMEMORATING  the  340th  Anniversary of Dutchess
        County on November 1, 2023
 
  WHEREAS, It is the intent of this  Legislative  Body  to  honor  and
commemorate   the  distinguished  histories  of  the  communities  which
comprise the noble body of this great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commemorate the 340th Anniversary of  Dutchess  County  on  November  1,
2023; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Dutchess  County  was part of the first 11 counties in the
State of New York, and it holds 20 towns and eight villages; and
 
  WHEREAS, The highest point in Dutchess County is the summit of Brace
Mountain; and
 
  WHEREAS, Dutchess County is home to five different colleges  and  14
different school districts; and
 
  WHEREAS, Interstate 84, Taconic and Route 9 all run through Dutchess
County which borders the Hudson River; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Located  about  halfway  between New York City and Albany,
Dutchess County has two railroads, the Hudson Line and the Harlem  Line,
and two airports used for general aviation; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Furthermore,   the   Dutchess  County  Fair,  located  in
Rhinebeck, is the second largest in the State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Of historic origin, and remaining fruitful over the ebb and
flow of decades of growth and change, the County of  Dutchess  continues
to provide the quintessential quality of life for its residents; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  residents  of  the  County  of Dutchess have a bright
outlook for the future of their community,  which  remains  a  beautiful
place in which to live and raise a family; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In recognition of the County of Dutchess' rich history and
enduring contribution to the State of New York, this Legislative Body is
proud to pay tribute to this spirited town  upon  the  occasion  of  its
340th Anniversary; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 340th Anniversary of  Dutchess  County  on  November  1,
2023,  recognizing  the significance of the role it continues to play in
the life of the community of the State of New York; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Dutchess County.
