MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
June 2019, as Volunteer Month in the State of New
York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official months that are set aside to call attention to the dedicated
efforts of those individuals from across the State of New York who
volunteer their time and energies in service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim June 2019, as Volunteer
Month in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer Month is an opportunity to recognize and thank
volunteers who lend their time, talent, voice and support to causes they
care about; their stories serve to inspire others to take action and to
realize their power to make a difference; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer Month is also a time to celebrate the impact
volunteer services have on the community; the many events, volunteer
projects and social media conversations that take place during the month
demonstrate that every individual has the power to create change by
taking action to tackle society's greatest challenges and build
stronger, more resilient communities; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and
serving can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to have the opportunity to
recognize the impact of all those who volunteer within their community
and who inspire others to make a difference by improving this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim June 2019, as Volunteer
Month in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
