MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
June 16-22, 2019, as Family Physician Week in the
State of New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official weeks that are set aside to recognize certain professionals who
affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim June 16-22, 2019, as
Family Physician Week in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The annual observance of Family Physician Week provides an
opportunity for the people of the Empire State to recognize the vital
contributions of the family physicians who practice in communities large
and small throughout New York; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Academy of Family Physicians represents
more than 6,000 board-certified family physicians, residents and medical
students who are dedicated to the primary care of the family as a whole;
and
WHEREAS, The Academy's mission is to advance the art and science of
medicine to improve the health and well-being of patients and families;
and
WHEREAS, The Academy will hold their 71th Annual Congress of
Delegates in Troy, New York, June 15-16, 2019; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate for the citizens of New York State to
recognize the members of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians
as they gather to renew their pledge to medicine and to families; they
truly exemplify the highest tradition of the family doctor and the
dedication, compassion and skill which are the hallmarks of their
profession; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim June 16-22, 2019, as
Family Physician Week in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
