COMMENDING Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette for
23 years of distinguished service to the Greater
Second Baptist Church of Freeport, New York
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish
themselves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and
preeminence of service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Reverend
Dr. Eric Charles Mallette for 23 years of distinguished service to the
Greater Second Baptist Church of Freeport, New York, to be celebrated on
Wednesday, June 26, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Licensed in 1979 and ordained in the Gospel Ministry in
1989, Reverend Dr. Eric Charles was unanimously elected Co-Pastor of the
Greater Second Baptist Church by the church body at its Annual Meeting
in June of 1996; and
WHEREAS, Two years later, his father, the Reverend Dr. E. Mitchell
Mallette was called home to receive his crown of glory and the Reverend
Dr. Eric Charles Mallette became the fifth Pastor of the Greater Second
Baptist Church on June 26, 1998; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious tenure thus far, Reverend Dr.
Eric Charles Mallette has enhanced the church's membership both
spiritually and numerically; he orchestrated the renaming and street
memorial sign dedication on the corner of Liberty Park to Dr. E.
Mitchell Mallette Drive, started boys and girls mentoring programs,
instituted weekly Bible study and formed a Golden Age Society for
seniors; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette, by unanimous vote of
the entire membership of the Greater Second Baptist Church, was bestowed
the title of Lifetime Pastor on March 4, 2001; he has tremendous love
for his work and his commitment to the Lord is exemplified by his
teachings and actions; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette is active in the Empire
Baptist Missionary Convention and currently serves as Vice President of
Area No. 9, covering all of Nassau and Suffolk Counties; he also serves
on the Village of Freeport Police Block Grant Committee, Board of Ethics
and Vice Chairman of the Commission on Human Relations Committee; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he made history as the first African American
Chaplain in the Incorporated Village of Freeport Police and Fire
Departments; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette has brought to his
ministry an overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from
vision and enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual
duties, while always displaying the highest standards of personal and
professional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given
enlightenment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and
has administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and
corporal needs of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette for 23 years of distinguished
service to the Greater Second Baptist Church of Freeport, New York,
noting his unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service
to God, man, and his community, and extending to him the heartfelt best
wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and
well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette.
