MOURNING the death of Arthur Douglas Jobson,
loving husband and father, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community, and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; Arthur Douglas Jobson was one such
individual; and
WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Arthur Douglas Jobson, noting
the significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson, known as Douglas, passed away on
April 10, 2023, at the age of 85; and
WHEREAS, Born in Stony Point, New York, on October 13, 1937, Douglas
Jobson graduated from Haverstraw-Stony Point High School, and continued
to reside in the town within walking distance of his childhood home; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his service in local politics, Douglas Jobson was
an active member of Carpenters Local No. 964 and proudly served in the
United States Army for two years; and
WHEREAS, Douglas Jobson joined the Stony Point Town Board in 1974,
serving for two terms; in 1997, he was elected as the Stony Point
Superintendent of Highways, a position in which he served until 1995;
thereafter, he served as Rockland County Highway Superintendent from
1996 to 2000; and in 2004, he was elected as Stony Point Supervisor; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his service in government, Douglas Jobson
was a member of the Stony Point Lions Club, Stony Point Volunteer
Ambulance Corp, and honorary member of the Stony Point Fire Department's
Wayne Hose Company No. 1; and
WHEREAS, Douglas Jobson is survived by his wife of 58 years, June
Wood Jobson; sons, Douglas Jobson, and Jason Jobson; brother, Thomas
Jobson (Patricia); and sister, Joyce (Joseph) Anginoli; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Arthur Douglas Jobson leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Arthur Douglas Jobson and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Arthur Douglas Jobson.
