CONGRATULATING the Marathon Central Boys Soccer
Team upon the occasion of capturing the New York
State Public High School Athletic Association Class
D Championship
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Marathon Central Boys Soccer Team upon the occasion of capturing the New
York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D State
Championship on Sunday, November 17, 2019, in Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Olympians were able to surmount their opponents in the New York State
Championship match and accomplish the utmost high school sporting
accomplishment in this Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The Marathon Olympians ended a very successful 2019 fall
season, in which they finished with a overall record of 19-0-1 and
capped their historic season off with a 1-0 victory over Section 9
Champion Mount Academy to secure the Class D New York State Boys Soccer
Championship; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as soccer, which demands athletic prowess,
speed and agility, Head Coach Chip Stewart and his expert coaching staff
worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team, teaching these
outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off
the pitch; and
WHEREAS, Coach Chip Stewart and all of the outstanding athletes on
the Marathon Central High School Soccer Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Marathon High School Boys Soccer Team:
Trenton O'Neill, Jared O'Shea, Samuel Castellot, Braeden Morrison,
Kaiden Cornell, Owen Hoyt, Ethan Morrison, Cameron Neilson, Andrew
Tillotson, Diego Castellot, Nicholas Allen, Kenyon DePuy, Trevor
Hurlbert, Evan Larrabee, Timothy Potter Jr., Trentin Ensign, Ian Gacek,
Joseph Hulbert, Bryce Howe, Nathyn Walker, Dawson Shepard; Head Coach
Chip Stewart; Assistant Coaches Bryan Hoyt, Fred Morrison, Aubrey Brown;
Managers Aydan Brown, Colton Oram, Cooper Cornell, Gavin Labouf; and
Statistician Alan Diaz upon the occasion of capturing the New York State
Public High School Athletic Association Class D State Championship; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members and coaches of the Marathon Central Boys
Soccer Team.
