CONGRATULATING Ariel Staffin upon the occasion of
her designation as Miss Hudson Valley 2024
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those people who, by achieving outstanding success in their
competitive endeavors, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; Ariel Staffin is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in statewide contests; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Ariel Staffin upon the occasion of her designation as Miss
Hudson Valley 2024, on Sunday, December 10, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Ariel Staffin, truly exhibiting consistent distinction in
her endeavors and pride in her State, has, through her obtaining the
esteemed title of Miss Hudson Valley, has earned her eligibility to
compete for the renowned Miss New York 2024 crown as well; and
WHEREAS, A 2022 graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel
Administration, Ariel Staffin is also a restaurant manager in Aurora,
New York, and currently resides in Ithaca; and
WHEREAS, Ariel Staffin enlisted in the New York Army National Guard
in 2020 and served in a mechanized infantry unit, Delta Company 2-108,
while simultaneously completing her commissioning through Cornell's Army
ROTC program; when she graduated, she was commissioned as an Armor
Officer and is now a platoon leader in a cavalry troop, Alpha Troop
2-101, and was recently promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant; and
WHEREAS, In her tenure as Miss Hudson Valley 2024, Ariel Staffin
promotes her service initiative, SALUTE, which she created in 2019, to
share the stories of servicemen and women with people around the
country, giving them a voice, and empowering them to share their
stories; and
WHEREAS, Ariel Staffin successfully furthers the goals of SALUTE
through service member spotlights, outreach and advocacy for service
members, and partnering with organizations whose mission is also to
support service members; and
WHEREAS, While Ariel Staffin's personal experience is within the
military, her community service initiative, SALUTE, works with law
enforcement, firefighters, medical professionals, meaningfully expanding
the bounds and potential reach of her impact; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the individual
accomplishments of remarkable people in statewide competitions in this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize and
applaud Ariel Staffin for her noteworthy endeavors and accomplishments;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Ariel Staffin upon the occasion of her designation as Miss
Hudson Valley 2024; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ariel Staffin, Miss Hudson Valley 2024.
