HONORING Sergeant Mark Fields upon the occasion of
his retirement after 20 years of dedicated service
to the Utica Police Department
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Sergeant Mark
Fields is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sergeant
Mark Fields upon the occasion of his retirement after 20 years of
dedicated service to the Utica Police Department; he officially retired
on Friday, April 24, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Mark Fields began his career on October 18, 1999, and
served in multiple capacities within the Utica Police Department; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, Officer Mark Fields started in the Patrol Division
before advancing to the Tactical Unit where he became a canine handler
with his partner, Jago; and
WHEREAS, Following his deployment with the Tactical Unit, Officer
Mark Fields became an Investigator within the Criminal Investigations
Division; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, Investigator Mark Fields received an award for
Exceptional Duty from the Utica Police Department; and
WHEREAS, In April of 2014, he received a promotion to the esteemed
rank of Sergeant where he supervised the Day Shift Criminal
Investigations Division, the position from which he retired; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Mark Fields was a true leader within the Utica
Police Department and the community he served; throughout his revered
career, many of his fellow officers looked up to him and emulated him in
hopes of success; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sergeant Mark Fields upon the occasion of his retirement after 20
years of dedicated service to the Utica Police Department, and to wish
him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sergeant Mark Fields.
