        Introduced  by  Sen.  ROBACH -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
 
        AN ACT to amend the highway law,  in  relation  to  designating  certain
          portions  of  the  state  highway system in the counties of Monroe and
          Tioga

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-i to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 344-i. Portion of the state highway system in the counties of Monroe
     4  and  Tioga  to  be  memorialized.  Certain portions of the state highway
     5  system in the counties of Monroe and Tioga are memorialized  as  follows
     6  with signage:
     7    1. At state route three hundred eighty-three at 21 Caledonia Avenue in
     8  the  village  of Scottsville, county of Monroe there shall be a memorial
     9  sign that reads "Deputy Simon J. Bermingham Memorial Site";
    10    2. At state route sixty-five, known as Clover Street, near the  inter-
    11  section  with Highland Avenue, in the town of Brighton, county of Monroe
    12  there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Special Deputy Joseph G. Munz
    13  Memorial Site";
    14    3. At state route three  hundred  eighty-three  near  the  Scottsville
    15  Village line in the county of Monroe there shall be a memorial sign that
    16  reads "Deputy William Marshall Memorial Site";
    17    4.  At state route three hundred eighty-three at the Black Creek Hotel
    18  in the county of Monroe there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Depu-
    19  ty James I. Conheady Memorial Site";
    20    5. At the intersection of state route three hundred  eighty-three  and
    21  state  route two hundred fifty-two in the town of Chili in the county of
    22  Monroe there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Deputy John A. Pullano
    23  Memorial Site";
 
         EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                              [ ] is old law to be omitted.

     1    6. Westbound on state route seventeen in the  town  of  Owego  in  the
     2  county  of Tioga there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Undersheriff
     3  George A. Conway Memorial Site";
     4    7.  On state route three hundred eighty-three near North Road near the
     5  village of Scottsville town line in the county of Monroe there shall  be
     6  a memorial sign that reads "Deputy Frank Dombrowski Memorial Site"; and
     7    8.  On  state  route  sixty-five  southbound, south of state route two
     8  hundred fifty-two approximately two hundred feet north of  the  entrance
     9  to  the Tobey Village Office Park in the county of Monroe there shall be
    10  a memorial sign that reads "Sergeant Robert M.    Skelton  Jr.  Memorial
    11  Site".
    12    §  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
    13  lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
    14  as  memorialized  pursuant to section one of this act; provided that, to
    15  avoid any confusion and to limit any possible  disruption  of  commerce,
    16  the memorialization called for pursuant to section one of this act shall
    17  be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such place or high-
    18  way shall not be changed as a result of this act.
    19    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
