        Introduced  by  Sen.  MYRIE  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections
 
        AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to changing the time peri-
          od for the annual national change of address system check  for  regis-
          tered voters

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Paragraph a of  subdivision  5  of  section  5-708  of  the
     2  election law, as amended by chapter 5 of the laws of 2019, is amended to
     3  read as follows:
     4    a.  At  least  once  each year during the month of [February] January,
     5  each board of elections shall obtain  through  the  National  Change  of
     6  Address  System,  the forwarding address for every voter registered with
     7  such board of elections for whom the United States  Postal  Service  has
     8  such a forwarding address together with the name of each such voter whom
     9  the  Postal Service records indicate has moved from the address at which
    10  he is registered without leaving a forwarding address.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
