        AN  ACT  in  relation  to  renaming the office of mental retardation and
          developmental disabilities as the office of  developmental  disability
          assistance
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of  law  to  the
     2  contrary,  effective April 1, 2009, the office of mental retardation and
     3  developmental disabilities, within the department of mental hygiene,  as
     4  established  by  chapter  978 of the laws of 1977, is hereby renamed the
     5  office of developmental disability assistance.
     6    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
