        Introduced  by  Sen.  ROBACH -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Social Services
 
        AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to providing  grant
          assistance for service dogs
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 303-a of the social  services  law
     2  is  renumbered subdivision 5 and a new subdivision 4 is added to read as
     3  follows:
     4    4. If such service dog is deemed medically  necessary  by  a  licensed
     5  physician,  grant  assistance  shall be provided for up to five thousand
     6  dollars for the purchase and  training,  food,  and  any  other  expense
     7  required for the health or maintenance of such service dog.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
