        Introduced  by  Sen.  LITTLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the licensing  of  the
          profession of massage therapy
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 6 of section 7805  of  the  education  law,  as
     2  added by chapter 498 of the laws of 2014 is amended to read as follows:
     3    6.  A massage therapist licensed and in good standing in another state
     4  or country from conducting a teaching demonstration  of  modalities  and
     5  techniques that are within the practice of massage therapy in connection
     6  with  a  program  of  continuing education that is conducted by approved
     7  sponsors of continuing education by the department.  Any massage  thera-
     8  pist conducting a teaching demonstration of modalities and techniques in
     9  New  York  state  pursuant  to  this subdivision shall be subject to the
    10  personal and subject matter jurisdiction and disciplinary and regulatory
    11  authority of the board of regents as if he or she is a licensee  and  as
    12  if the exemption pursuant to this subdivision is a license. Such massage
    13  therapist shall comply with the provisions of this article, the rules of
    14  the  board of regents, and the regulations of the commissioner, relating
    15  to professional misconduct, disciplinary proceedings and  penalties  for
    16  professional misconduct.
    17    §  2.  This  act  shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to
    18  have been in full force and effect on the same date as  chapter  498  of
    19  the laws of 2014, took effect.
