Increases from 10 to 13, the number of additional points granted to disabled veterans on competitive civil service original appointment exams; increases from 5 to 6 the number of additional points granted on promotion exams; and increases such points for non-disabled veterans from 5 to 8 on original appointment exams and from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 on promotion exams.

AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to veterans credits
on competitive examinations
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subparagraphs 1 and 2 of paragraph (a) of subdivision 2 of
2 section 85 of the civil service law, as added by chapter 790 of the laws
3 of 1958, are amended to read as follows:
4 (1) Disabled veterans shall be entitled to receive [ten] thirteen
5 points additional in a competitive examination for original appointment
6 and [five] six points additional credit in a competitive examination for
7 promotion, and
8 (2) Non-disabled veterans shall be entitled to receive [five] eight
9 points additional credit in a competitive examination for original
10 appointment and [two] three and one-half points additional credit in a
11 competitive examination for promotion.
12 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
