AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring
inspections for Legionnaires' disease in certain locations
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Article 21 of the public health law is amended by adding a
2 new title 9 to read as follows:

4 LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE
5 Section 2190. Legionnaires' disease; definitions.
6 2191. Legionnaires' disease; inspections.
7 § 2190. Legionnaires' disease; definitions. For the purposes of this
8 title, the term "location" shall mean any enclosed or outdoor space
9 which could be susceptible to Legionnaires' disease including, but not
10 limited to, apartment complexes, apartment buildings, senior centers,
11 multi-unit living communities, buildings or facilities, baths, spas,
12 restrooms, restaurants, and grocery stores.
13 § 2191. Legionnaires' disease; inspections. Each location which the
14 commissioner determines is susceptible to Legionnaires' disease shall
15 submit to an annual inspection by the department for the presence of
16 Legionnaires' disease.
17 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
