        Introduced  by Sen. NOZZOLIO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed  to  the  Committee  on  Local  Government  --
          reported  favorably  from  said committee, ordered to first and second

          report, ordered to a third reading,  amended  and  ordered  reprinted,
          retaining its place in the order of third reading
 
        AN  ACT in relation to authorizing the village of Lyons, county of Wayne
          to hire Brian M. Ritchie to fill a full-time competitive position with
          the village of Lyons police department
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1.  Notwithstanding section 58 of the civil service law or any
     2  other  law  to  the  contrary, the village of Lyons, county of Wayne, is
     3  hereby authorized and directed upon the approval of the village board of
     4  trustees and the police chief of the village of Lyons, to appoint  Brian
     5  M. Ritchie, who is currently employed as a part-time police officer with
     6  the  police  department  of the village of Lyons, to a full-time compet-

     7  itive position as a police officer with the police  department  of  such
     8  village.
     9    § 2. Brian Ritchie shall be otherwise subject to the merit and fitness
    10  provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi-
    11  cers.
    12    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
