AN ACT to amend the public housing law, in relation to required instal-
lation of carbon monoxide detectors
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The public housing law is amended by adding a new section
2 152-a to read as follows:
3 § 152-a. Safety requirements; carbon monoxide detectors. Each authori-
4 ty shall install and maintain a functioning carbon monoxide detector in
5 every tenant dwelling unit, excluding those dwelling units having elec-
6 tric heat as their sole source of heat.
7 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of October next succeed-
8 ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
