        Introduced  by  Sen.  KRUGER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
 
        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to disregarding
          a lawful order of a police officer to stop a motor vehicle
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-

        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  vehicle  and  traffic law is amended by adding a new
     2  section 1102-a to read as follows:
     3    § 1102-a. Evasion of a police officer.  No person, while  operating  a
     4  motor vehicle, shall knowingly flee or attempt to elude any police offi-
     5  cer  after  having received any signal from said police officer to bring
     6  the motor vehicle to a full stop. Any person  violating  this  provision
     7  shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
     8    §  2.    This  act  shall  take  effect  on the first of November next
     9  succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
