Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 2091 2009-2010 Regular Sessions IN SENATE February 11, 2009 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MONTGOMERY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Children and Families AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to eligibility requirements for child care assistance The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 410-w of the social services law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows: 3 6. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, rule or regulation to 4 the contrary, applicants for child care subsidy assistance shall be 5 encouraged to obtain a child support order and shall be advised of the 6 benefits of obtaining such orders. Provided however, no applicant for, 7 or recipient of, child care assistance under this title shall be 8 required to pursue, or to obtain, a court order for child support as a 9 condition of eligibility for child care assistance. 10 § 2.
