AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to establishing
a distinctive plate honoring the one hundredth anniversary of the Boy
Scouts of America
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new
2 section 404-x to read as follows:
3 § 404-x. Distinctive Boy Scouts of America plates. 1. Any person
4 residing in this state shall, upon request, be issued a distinctive
5 plate honoring the one hundredth anniversary of the Boy Scouts of Ameri-
6 ca of a design approved by the commissioner in consultation with the
7 National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
8 2. An application for such plate shall be filed with the commissioner
9 in such form and detail as the commissioner shall prescribe.
10 3. A distinctive plate issued pursuant to this section shall be issued
11 in the same manner as other number plates upon payment of the regular
12 registration fee prescribed by section four hundred one of this article
13 and an initial one time service charge of twenty-five dollars shall be
14 charged for such plates.
15 4. Such initial service charge shall be deposited, pursuant to section
16 four hundred four-oo of this article, to the credit of the department of
17 motor vehicles distinctive plate development fund established by section
18 ninety-five-g of the state finance law, and shall be used for the
19 production, design, advertising and marketing of distinctive plates
20 pursuant to such section of the state finance law; provided, however,
21 that initial service charges collected in excess of six thousand dollars
22 shall be paid on a quarterly basis to the National Council of the Boy
23 Scouts of America for deposit into the World Friendship Fund of the Boy
24 Scouts of America.
25 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
