        Introduced  by  Sen.  O'MARA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern-
          ment Operations
 
        AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to  peace  officers
          employed  by  Cornell  University;  and  to  repeal  subdivision 59 of
          section 3 of such law relating thereto
 

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Subdivision 59 of section 3 of the public officers law, as
     2  added by chapter 499 of the laws of 2012, is REPEALED.
     3    § 2. Section 3-b of the public officers law is amended by adding a new
     4  subdivision 5 to read as follows:
     5    5. In respect to peace officers employed by  Cornell  university,  and
     6  assigned  to  the Ithaca campus, pursuant to section fifty-seven hundred
     7  nine of the education law, the provisions of this  section  requiring  a
     8  person  to  be  a resident of the same county as the appointing official
     9  shall not prevent a person from serving as a peace officer  for  Cornell
    10  university,  or  as a special deputy sheriff, and assigned to the Ithaca

    11  campus, as defined in subdivision forty-two of section 2.10 of the crim-
    12  inal procedure law, provided that such person resides in  the  state  of
    13  New York.
    14    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
