          6,  sec. 8 -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first
          and second report, amended on second report, ordered to a third  read-
          ing,  and to be reprinted as amended, retaining its place in the order
          of third reading
 
        AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to providing  employers  with
          the opportunity to register for emergency alerts from the state of New
          York public safety alert mass notification system
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The labor law is amended by adding a new section  219-d  to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 219-d. Emergency alert notification system employer registration. 1.
     4  The  department,  in  consultation  with the state office of information
     5  technology services, shall provide every employer in the  state  with  a
     6  registration form which shall be created by the state office of informa-
     7  tion  technology  services,  to  voluntarily register with the emergency
     8  alert notification system. Such registration form shall be  provided  to
     9  employers by mail or in electronic format, and shall be accompanied by a
    10  summary  of  the  benefits  of registering for alerts from the emergency
    11  alert notification system, including a description of how the use of the
    12  emergency alert system can be utilized to preserve the health and safety
    13  of workers, and an example for dissemination to workers  of  information
    14  received from an emergency alert notification.
    15    2. For the purposes of this section, the "emergency alert notification
    16  system"  shall  mean the state office of information technology services
    17  alert system known as alert.ny.gov, or NY-Alert.
    18    § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
    19  have become a law.
