        Introduced  by  Sen.  FUNKE  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance -- recommitted  to
          the  Committee  on Finance in accordance with Senate Rule 6, sec. 8 --
          committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as  amended  and
          recommitted to said committee

        AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the establishment of a
          human trafficking hotline
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 75  to
     2  read as follows:
     3    §  75. Human trafficking hotline. 1. The attorney general shall estab-
     4  lish and maintain, within funds available, a twenty-four hour  toll-free
     5  statewide  hotline number for use in the investigation and prevention of
     6  human trafficking.
     7    2. The attorney general  shall  refer  relevant  information  obtained
     8  through  the  statewide  hotline  to the appropriate district attorney's
     9  office with jurisdiction in the matter.
    10    3. The department of law shall promulgate rules  and  regulations  and
    11  take  other  actions  necessary for the effective implementation of this
    12  section, including but not limited to, providing  for  the  privacy  and
    13  safety of victims of human trafficking.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    15  it  shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend-
    16  ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
    17  tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be  made  and
    18  completed on or before such effective date.
