        Introduced  by  Sen.  MURRAY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Corporations,  Authorities
          and Commissions
 
        AN  ACT  to  amend  the public authorities law, in relation to requiring
          public utility authorities to obtain legislative approval before rais-
          ing rates or fees

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.    The  public  authorities law is amended by adding a new
     2  section 2859 to read as follows:
     3    § 2859. Rates and fees; public utility authorities.  No public utility
     4  authority operating under article five of this chapter shall  raise  any
     5  rates or fees, or impose any new rates or fees, for the use of utilities
     6  provided  by  such  public  utility  authority,  without first obtaining
     7  approval from the state legislature.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
