        Introduced  by  Sen.  SAVINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern-
          ment Operations -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered  to
          first  and  second  report, ordered to a third reading, substituted by

          Assembly Bill No. 4106-A, substitution reconsidered and vote reconsid-
          ered, restored  to  third  reading,  amended  and  ordered  reprinted,
          retaining its place in the order of third reading
 
        AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to the residence of
          members of the auto trades employed by a city with a population of one
          million or more and other counties
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 2-e to read as follows:
     3    2-e. Neither the provisions of this section, nor any general,  special
     4  or  local law, charter, code, ordinance, resolution, rule or regulation,
     5  requiring a person to be a resident  of  the  political  subdivision  or

     6  municipal corporation of the state by which he or she is employed, shall
     7  apply to a person employed by a city with a population of one million or
     8  more  who  works  in  the title of auto mechanic, auto body worker, auto
     9  machinist, electrician (automobile), auto  mechanic  diesel,  machinist,
    10  machinist  helper,  auto  service  worker,  senior  auto service worker,
    11  supervisor sheet metal worker, sheet  metal  worker,  tractor  operator,
    12  motor grade operator, oil burner specialists, marine maintenance mechan-
    13  ic  level  I  &  II,  rubber  tire  repairer, sign painter, letterer, or
    14  carriage upholsterer and who resides in the city  of  New  York  or  the
    15  county of Nassau, Westchester, Suffolk, Orange, Rockland or Putnam.

    16    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
    17  have become a law.
