AN ACT to authorize Steven M. Carlson to apply for retroactive member-
ship in the New York state and local employees' retirement system on
the basis of prior seasonal employment by the department of parks and
recreation of the city of New York
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,
2 Steven M. Carlson, a member of the New York state and local employees'
3 retirement system employed by the department of health, who was previ-
4 ously employed as a seasonal recreation assistant by the department of
5 parks and recreation of the city of New York commencing on June 19,
6 1968, who for reasons not ascribable to his own negligence failed to
7 become a member of the New York city employees' retirement system during
8 such seasonal employment, and who previously transferred prior service
9 credit and his membership in the New York city employees' retirement
10 system to the New York state and local employees' retirement system
11 pursuant to section 645 of the retirement and social security law on the
12 basis of other subsequent employment by the city of New York, shall be
13 authorized to apply for, pursuant to section 645 of the retirement and
14 social security law, and receive membership in the New York city employ-
15 ees' retirement system and a retroactive membership in the New York
16 state and local employees' retirement system commencing on June 19,
17 1968, if within one year of the effective date of this act he shall
18 submit a written application therefor with the state comptroller.
19 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
