        Introduced  by  Sen.  C. JOHNSON  -- read twice and ordered printed, and
          when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance
 
        AN ACT to amend chapter 53 of the laws of 2009, enacting the  education,
          labor and family assistance budget, in relation to charter schools
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-

        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 53 of the laws of 2009,  enacting  the
     2  education,  labor  and family assistance budget, is amended by repealing
     3  the items herein below set forth in  brackets  and  by  adding  to  such
     4  section the other items underscored in this section.
 
     5    General Fund / Aid to Localities
     6    Local Assistance Account - 001
 
     7  For  services  and  expenses  related to the
     8    development, implementation and  operation
     9    of  charter schools for the 2009-10 school
    10    year including $1,981,000 for  administra-
    11    tive/technical  support  services provided
    12    by the charter  school  institute  of  the
    13    state  university  of  New  York and up to
    14    $1,000,000  for  the  establishment  of  a
    15    per-pupil facilities aid program for char-

    16    ter  schools  that is required for federal
    17    grant  eligibility.    This  appropriation
    18    shall  only  be  available for expenditure
    19    upon the approval of an  expenditure  plan
    20    by  the  director  of the budget and funds
    21    appropriated herein shall  be  transferred
    22    to  the miscellaneous special revenue fund
    23    - charter schools stimulus account ........... 5,528,000

     1    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and  shall  be  deemed  to
     2  have been in full force and effect on and after the same date as chapter

     3  53 of the laws of 2009, enacting the education, labor and family assist-
     4  ance budget, takes effect.
