        Introduced  by Sen. HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims,  Crime  and
          Correction
 
        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  correction  law,  in relation to establishing a
          uniform electronic medical records system for correctional facilities

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The correction law is amended by adding a new section 144
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 144. Uniform electronic medical records.  1.  The  commissioner,  in
     4  consultation  with  the  commissioner  of health and the commissioner of
     5  mental health, shall develop a uniform electronic medical records system
     6  to be utilized by all correctional facilities in the state.
     7    2. The commissioner shall promulgate rules and  regulations  necessary
     8  for the implementation of this section.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    10  it  shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend-
    11  ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
    12  tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be  made  and
    13  completed on or before such effective date.
