        Introduced  by Sen. McDONALD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Mental Health and Develop-
          mental Disabilities
 
        AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to  the  appointment
          of directors of community services
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision (a) of section 41.09 of the mental hygiene law,
     2  as amended by chapter 588 of the laws of 1973 and such section as renum-
     3  bered by chapter 978 of the laws of 1977, is amended to read as follows:
     4    (a) [Charter]  Local  governments  may  provide  for  appointment  and
     5  removal of directors in a manner authorized by such governments. [In all
     6  other  local  governments, the board shall appoint and remove the direc-
     7  tor.] Salaries and allowable expenses shall be  set  by  the  appointing
     8  authority.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
