        Introduced  by  Sen. LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
 
        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in  relation  to  requiring
          the  commissioner  of  motor  vehicles  to monitor manufacturer safety
          recalls and notify vehicle registrants
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  vehicle  and  traffic law is amended by adding a new
     2  section 224-b to read as follows:
     3    § 224-b. Motor vehicle safety recalls. The commissioner shall  monitor
     4  all manufacturer safety recalls for all makes and models of vehicles and
     5  shall  further  notify  each  vehicle registrant of the issuance of such
     6  manufacturer safety recalls by publishing the information on the depart-
     7  ment of motor vehicles website.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
     9  have become a law.
