          printed to be committed to the Committee on Judiciary
 
        AN ACT to amend the uniform justice court act, in relation  to  allowing
          justices of criminal courts in the county of Madison to preside in any
          court   for  the  limited  purposes  of  arraignments  and  appearance
          proceedings pursuant to a bench warrant
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Section 106 of the uniform justice court act is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 12 to read as follows:
     3    12. Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision one of this section,
     4  a justice of a local criminal court situated in the  county  of  Madison
     5  may preside as the justice of his or her court anywhere in the county of
     6  Madison  for  the  limited  purposes  of  arraignments and/or appearance
     7  proceedings pursuant to a bench warrant, provided that such arraignments
     8  and/or appearance proceedings are held in a courtroom wherever possible,
     9  or other suitable facility open to the public, and provided further that
    10  any municipality providing such facilities shall have consented to  such
    11  usage.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
