        Introduced  by  Sen.  FELDER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities 1
 
        AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the  city  of  New  York,  in
          relation to requiring a police officer to be present at schools within
          the city of New York during instructional hours

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is  amended
     2  by adding a new section 10-186 to read as follows:
     3    § 10-186 School  safety  measures. The police commissioner of the city
     4  shall assign a police officer at least one hour prior to  the  commence-
     5  ment  of  instructional  hours  at  every school, public and/or private,
     6  within the city of New York. Such police officer shall remain on site at
     7  such school during instructional hours and for a  minimum  of  one  hour
     8  post  instructional  hours unless, in the discretion of the mayor of the
     9  city or the police commissioner of the city, a state of emergency exists
    10  requiring redeployment of a police officer during the required hours set
    11  forth in this section.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
