AN ACT to amend chapter 250 of the laws of 2022 relating to authorizing
the assessor of the town of Smithtown, county of Suffolk, to accept
from the New Horizons Counseling Center, Inc., an application for
exemption from real property taxes, in relation to making a technical
correction thereto regarding the property subject to such real proper-
ty tax exemption
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The opening paragraph of section 1 of chapter 250 of the
2 laws of 2022 relating to authorizing the assessor of the town of Smith-
3 town, county of Suffolk, to accept from the New Horizons Counseling
4 Center, Inc., an application for exemption from real property taxes, is
5 amended to read as follows:
6 Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the asses-
7 sor of the town of Smithtown, county of Suffolk, is hereby authorized to
8 accept from the New Horizons Counseling Center, Inc., an application for
9 exemption from real property taxes pursuant to section 420-a of the real
10 property tax law, with respect to the 2019 and 2020 assessment rolls,
11 for the parcel owned by such organization, with such parcel being
12 located at 1056 W. Jericho Turnpike, in the town of Smithtown, county of
13 Suffolk, otherwise known as Suffolk county tax map section 094.00 block
14 03.00 [lot] lots 002.001 and 002.003. If accepted, the application shall
15 be reviewed as if it had been received on or before the taxable status
16 date established for such rolls.
17 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
