        Introduced  by  Sen.  PARKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Social Services
 
        AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to providing notice
          to applicants of potential liability for public assistance benefits
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. The social services law is amended by adding a new section
     2  110-b to read as follows:
     3    § 110-b. Recovery from a person discovered to have  property;  notice.
     4  Notwithstanding  any  law, rule or regulation to the contrary, an appli-
     5  cant for public assistance shall be fully informed in writing that he or
     6  she may be liable to reimburse the state for public assistance  benefits
     7  received, as provided for in this title.  Notice may be given as part of
     8  an  informational  booklet  promulgated  by  the office of temporary and
     9  disability services and as a standalone document on his  or  her  rights
    10  and  responsibilities.    Nothing  in  this  section  shall be deemed to
    11  prevent the local social services district from maintaining its  records
    12  electronically.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect on June 30, 2022.
