AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in
relation to increasing fines for individuals who fail to comply with a
stop work order
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 28-207.2.6 of the administrative code of the city
2 of New York, as amended by section 47 of part A of local law number 141
3 of the city of New York for the year 2013, is amended to read as
4 follows:
5 § 28-207.2.6 Penalties. In addition to the penalties provided for in
6 this chapter, any person who fails to comply with a stop work order
7 shall be liable for a civil penalty in the amount of [five] ten thousand
8 dollars for the initial violation and [ten] twenty thousand dollars for
9 every subsequent violation, to be paid to the department prior to the
10 rescission of the stop work order; provided, however, this shall not
11 apply to any work performed to remedy an unsafe or hazardous condition
12 as authorized by order of the commissioner.
13 § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
14 have become a law.
