        Introduced  by Sen. HAMILTON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on  Energy  and  Telecommuni-
          cations  --  recommitted  to  the Committee on Energy and Telecommuni-
          cations in  accordance  with  Senate  Rule  6,  sec.  8  --  committee
          discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted
          to said committee
 
        AN  ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to establishing the
          renewable energy tariff
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The public service law is amended by adding a new section
     2  66-p to read as follows:
     3    § 66-p. Renewable energy tariff. 1. On or before September first,  two
     4  thousand  eighteen,  each combination gas and electric corporation shall
     5  file an application with the commission to establish a  tariff  for  the
     6  purpose  of purchasing electricity that is one hundred percent generated
     7  from renewable sources, as defined by the commission and consistent with
     8  the most recent state energy plan pursuant to article six of the  energy
     9  law.
    10    2.  On  or before January first, two thousand nineteen, the commission
    11  shall, after notice and opportunity for public comment, approve, modify,
    12  or reject the tariff.
    13    3. Within sixty days of the commission's approval of a combination gas
    14  and electric corporation's tariff filed pursuant to this  section,  such
    15  combination gas and electric corporation shall make the tariff available
    16  to customers.
    17    4.  The  combination  gas  and  electric  corporation  may at any time
    18  propose revisions to a tariff under this section based on changing costs
    19  and conditions.
    20    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
