AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to requiring
motor carriers of passengers to post, for public viewing, certain
information on their websites
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new
2 section 509-nn to read as follows:
3 § 509-nn. Motor carrier information. 1. Each motor carrier shall post,
4 for public viewing, on its website a link to the motor carrier's federal
5 Motor Carrier Safety Administration safety measure system profile.
6 2. In the event that a motor carrier does not maintain a publicly
7 accessible website, such carrier shall conspicuously post, at each place
8 where the motor carrier sells tickets for transportation, a notice which
9 provides the following information:
10 (a) its United States department of transportation identification
11 number;
12 (b) its behavior analysis and safety improvement category percentile;
13 (c) its federal motor carrier safety administration safety rating;
14 (d) its inspection history; and
15 (e) a summary of its violations.
16 3. The information required to be provided by this section shall be
17 updated not less frequently than once every three months.
18 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
19 it shall have become a law. Provided, however, that effective immediate-

1 ly, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation
2 necessary for the implementation of the provisions of this act on its
3 effective date are authorized and directed to be made and completed on
4 or before such effective date.
