        Introduced by Sen. RANZENHOFER -- (at request of the Dormitory Authority
          of  the State of New York) -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Corporations,  Authorities
          and Commissions
 
        AN  ACT to amend the facilities development corporation act, in relation
          to raising the financial ceiling above  which  construction  contracts
          must be publicly bid
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The opening paragraph of paragraph g of  subdivision  2  of
     2  section  9 of section 1 of chapter 359 of the laws of 1968, constituting
     3  the facilities development corporation act, as amended by chapter 127 of
     4  the laws of 2000, is amended to read as follows:
     5    All contracts which are to be awarded pursuant to this paragraph shall
     6  be  awarded  by  public  letting  in  accordance  with   the   following
     7  provisions,  notwithstanding  any  contrary  provision  of  section  one
     8  hundred thirty-six, one hundred thirty-nine or one hundred forty of  the
     9  state finance law, except that in the discretion of the directors of the
    10  corporation,  a  contract  may be entered into for such purposes without

    11  public letting where the estimated  expense  thereof  is  no  more  than
    12  [forty] eighty thousand dollars:
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
